Looking at the design it doesn't suit Cairns image or enviroment so why come up with design which would be more suitable for Macau, Las Vegas or Hong Kong.
There still hasn't been any community consultation and there probably won't be so again the residents do not get a say of what is good or bad in our community.
Aquis the new design.

FAR Northern community leaders have lauded a fresh artist's impression of the $4.2 billion Aquis Great Barrier Reef Resort as "magnificent" and "Cairns friendly".
Cairns friendly are these leaders on the same planet? this is something that you would expect in larger cities not a regional city of 150/1600,000, the artist impression is great but not for Cairns.
If one was to look around Cairns there is no other building to compliment this design.
People say "let's build it" but have they taken the time to study the portfolio that the Aquis group put out with the first design and now the new design which is bigger again.
No one can guarantee the influx of tourists from overseas when they have other larger cities with mega resorts and are cheaper to holiday in.
Everyone should read up on all the information that is available and we also know that there is a lot of information that we don't know about.
The Premier in 2013 when asked about the resort on TalkBack radio he said "I think that it has some good points but I also have some concerns which he didn't outline.
We await the EIS report and hopefully will be available to everyone to read.
