Today Cairns Post March 31, 2015 "Aquis and government won’t be drawn on speculation a deal is to be struck over $8.15bn project".
From information obtained there is no apparent deal and the government is NOT going to pushed or rushed into any deals.
As previously stated before Aquis is gone dead and buried, Tony Fung does not have the money and now with the Chinese Government pulling in the reins on money going out of China the Fungs will find it extremely hard to finance this project.

It appears that he has settled into Canberra and has putting money into local sports groups and if he was still interested in Cairns the support would have continued for Cairns local sports group.

It is true that discussions have taken place but nothing concrete has surfaced from the meeting and probably won't for some time.

The CEO of the Chamber of Commerce had this to say:

Cairns Chamber of Commerce chief executive Deb Hancock said it was hoped an announcement about the project would be made at the chamber’s “afternoon tea with Aquis”
“We want the Queensland Government to make an announcement but it can’t be guaranteed,” she said. Aquis project director and environmental impact statement architect Pat Flanagan will provide the briefing at the Pullman Cairns International hotel.

When will these people start to realise that Aquis is gone and people that supported it have now turned their back on it, it was a pipe dream from the start I suppose one could say "a politicians dream".

They also say that Tony Fung commitment is unwavering, REALLY then why did he walk away from the Reef Hotel Casino which would have been a great benefit to his cause.

He let all the residents down in Cairns by not attending the three FORMAL meetings nor did he complete the requirements within the probity, what did the government find?.

This project wont do anything for Cairns except bring misery, higher prostitution, money laundering and the crime rate will definitely soar.

Also the Queensland government are not fast tracking Aquis Resort by amending the IRD which came from a source in Brisbane yesterday.
The Cairns Business Houses will not benefit from this project, their guests if it ever goes ahead will have no cause to go into Cairns as all their needs will build within the structure.
Stop monkeying around with this project and do something more positive so that all of Cairns and the Business Houses will benefit from.
The afternoon  tea with Aquis is on tomorrow April 1, APRIL FOOLS day.
