Didn't do any good with the LNP --- let's try another avenue

The Member for Ashgrove Kate Jones (pictured left) was in Cairns on Friday March 13, 2015 to carry out duties within her portfolio and also meet with tourism representatives to try and convince her to get Aquis over the line.
This group never want to give up on something that WILL NOT benefit Cairns except a couple jobs here and there.
Unfortunately Cairns is not an industrial city it is a tourist destination and always has been and probably always will be.
They should be using their so-called expertise to get tourists here so that the "whole" of Cairns benefits and not just Aquis which isn't a tourist attraction it's a gambling den and if people want to go gambling then we already have a casino which has catered not only for the tourist but also for the locals and has done so in a professional manner.
An interesting comment from the former Member for Barron River in the Weekend Post (March 14, 2015) which stated:

HITTING BACK: Former Barron River MP Michael Trout has revealed his political masters tre
His masters said he was a naughty
boy and got sent to the bosses office.
"Former Barron River MP Michael Trout said he recently told former Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney that the reason LNP MPs had lost their seats was the government failure to get Aquis approved".
That statement is totally untrue for the following reasons:
(1). Tony Fung failed to attend 3 "FORMAL" meetings -- WHY?
(2). He failed to complete 12 of the probity requirements -- WHY?
(3) Concerns raised by David Ford of a number of things such as:

(1). "That Aquis has had little corporate history in Australia, has not been similarly licensed elsewhere and is sourcing a significant proportion of its funds from offshore".

(2). Important financial information, including issues around its equity funding and future cash flows, remains outstanding from Aquis,’’.

(3). "In addition, discussions with the Queensland Police Service and through them with international policing agencies, to finalise consideration of the reputation and criminal history of Aquis and its associates are yet to be finalised.

(4). "The nature of casinos has made them targets for organised crime, both in their ownership and as a means of laundering ill-gotten gains. While this has never been an issue in Queensland it is important that the regulatory processes work to eliminate these risks as far as is possible.

(5). "There are a number of factors which affect the length of probity processes including whether the applicant has been similarly licensed elsewhere, their corporate structure and source of funds.

Tony Fung FAILED the process

The Minister also stated:
“The strong message I have got from my visit to Cairns, spending time talking to tourism operators on the ground, is that they want Aquis to go ahead and they want it to happen as quickly as we can.
Well Minister have you talked and listened to the residents the answer is probably NO, does the government always act on what a certain group within the community says.
This Aquis saga has been bashed and bashed by a couple past politicians  and the locals have had enough, then to top it off Fung packs up and leaves, Facebook closed down and local office closed so why does this man deserve the opportunity to get a licence.
He has failed the residents of Cairns.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH Cairns has more to offer than another 2 new casinos.
Also the Chamber of Commerce should start looking after the local businesses and find a way to help them increase their business opportunities.
What about other infrastructure that would assist with jobs, what about our highways and local roads and more importantly what about our hospital and waiting times that haven't been fixed.
